Engineering Manager, Momentum
Grow Therapy · New York, NY; San Francisco Bay Area, CA
About the role
This is an Engineering Manager opportunity with a fast-growing US mental health platform focused on making care more effective and accessible. The role leads Momentum, a recently formed team building the experiences that support patients between therapy sessions. The team is moving from early discovery towards scaling what works, so this is a build-from-the-ground-up position with real influence over architecture, team culture and product direction. The business operates at scale, with around 15 million therapy sessions started on its marketplace of patients, clinicians and insurance payors. You’ll lead a full-stack team of backend and mobile engineers, hire and grow it as it scales, and make the early architecture decisions that set its technical foundation. You’ll work with Product to define the company’s strategy for the time between sessions, use data and patient insight to guide decisions and measure impact, build frameworks for execution and prioritisation, and represent the team to the wider engineering organisation alongside product, design and peer engineering managers. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience as an engineering manager and 6+ years as an individual contributor in backend or iOS engineering. They will have strong product sense, a record of delivering complex programmes in ambiguous environments, and experience building high-performing teams. A founder’s mindset (ownership, speed and pragmatism) matters here, and experience building systems for mental health or healthcare professionals would be advantageous. This is a hybrid position in New York or San Francisco, with three days a week in the office, suited to a hands-on engineering leader who wants to shape a new team from its earliest stage. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
What you'll do
- Ship customer-facing features on a weekly cadence.
- Partner with design and product on scoping and trade-offs.
- Drive technical quality through review, testing, and docs.
