Software Engineer
Garner Health · New York, NY
About the role
This is a Software Engineer opportunity with a fast-growing US healthtech business that partners with employers to steer members towards higher-quality doctors and lower-cost care. The role sits in Engineering, on a team building the systems that analyse billions of medical records to rank healthcare providers nationwide. Load on the platform roughly doubles each year, so the work offers early exposure to scaling problems on AWS and Kubernetes. You’ll use AI to build, optimise and maintain software, collaborate across disciplines to understand the domain and iterate on projects, and protect user privacy and security. The stack includes Python, TypeScript, React, Go, Airflow, dbt and Claude Code. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years’ software engineering experience, a generalist mindset and a willingness to learn new languages, frameworks and techniques. Familiarity with data security and HIPAA is expected. This is an in-office role in New York City, three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday), suited to an engineer earlier in their career who wants real responsibility in a team that builds with AI every day. Visa sponsorship is not available. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
What you'll do
- Ship customer-facing features on a weekly cadence.
- Partner with design and product on scoping and trade-offs.
- Drive technical quality through review, testing, and docs.
- Mentor one or two engineers on your team.
