Staff Software Engineer (Developer Experience)

About the role

This is a Staff Software Engineer (Developer Experience) opportunity with a fast-growing US healthtech business that partners with employers to steer members towards higher-quality doctors and lower-cost care. The role sits in Engineering, on a team building the systems that analyse medical records to rank healthcare providers. It is a senior technical leadership position that sets team strategy and raises the technical level of engineers across the organisation. You’ll set and execute team technical strategy over multi-quarter horizons, use AI to build, optimise and maintain software, and help other engineers work faster and better. You’ll collaborate across disciplines to understand the domain and iterate on projects, and protect user privacy and security. The stack includes Python, TypeScript, React, Go, Airflow, dbt, Kubernetes and Claude Code. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years’ software engineering experience, experience leading engineering teams with impact on technical strategy, and a demonstrated ability to build complex systems with AI coding agents. A generalist mindset, a quick learning curve, a record of mentoring and familiarity with data security and HIPAA are expected. This is a remote US position with occasional travel to the New York headquarters, suited to a staff engineer who wants to shape how a whole engineering team builds. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
