Engineering Manager, Operations
Nourish · San Francisco Bay Area, CA
About the role
This is an Engineering Manager (Operations) opportunity with a Series C US digital health business offering dietitian-led, insurance-covered metabolic health care across all 50 states. The role leads Operations Engineering, a team of four to five engineers building the automation and exception-handling systems behind clinical and business operations, including billing, claims, eligibility and scheduling. It reports to a Senior Engineering Manager. You’ll hire, coach and manage engineers while staying hands-on through architecture, coding, code reviews and on-call. You’ll partner with product, design and operations teams on roadmaps and sprints, set technical direction for reliability, observability and scalability, and build auditable systems that hold up under regulatory complexity. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years’ professional software engineering experience and 2+ years of hands-on engineering management, with strong hiring and performance management skills and the product judgement to write PRDs and size opportunities. The stack is React, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL or similar. Experience with workflow platforms, automation, healthcare billing or claims, and regulated systems would be advantageous. There is a strong preference for New York City or San Francisco, and the role suits a hands-on manager who enjoys turning messy operational workflows into reliable software. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.

- Ship customer-facing features on a weekly cadence.
- Partner with design and product on scoping and trade-offs.
