BI Engineer
Courier Health · New York, NY; Remote (US)
About the role
This is a Business Intelligence Engineer opportunity with a Series A New York health tech business that builds patient engagement software for biopharma companies supporting people with chronic and rare diseases. The role owns business intelligence, building and maintaining the Sigma dashboards and dbt models behind embedded, in-product reporting, within an early-stage data engineering team that is shaping the data platform. You’ll design, build and maintain dashboards and workbooks, develop tested dbt models and SQL transformations that produce documented reporting-ready datasets, and scope reporting needs with internal teams and clients, turning vague questions into clear dashboards. You’ll maintain a shared metrics layer with consistent definitions, and monitor replication and orchestrated pipelines, investigating data issues and adding upstream quality checks. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years in BI, analytics engineering or data engineering, with strong SQL and relational data modelling, experience building dashboards in a modern BI tool (Sigma, Looker, Tableau or similar) and production dbt experience. Experience deploying dashboards inside user-facing applications would be advantageous. This is an office-first role in New York City, with the posting asking about four days a week in the office, suited to an analyst-engineer who enjoys working directly with non-technical stakeholders. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
What you'll do
- Ship customer-facing features on a weekly cadence.
- Partner with design and product on scoping and trade-offs.
- Drive technical quality through review, testing, and docs.
- Mentor one or two engineers on your team.
