Staff Software Engineer

About the role

This is a Staff Software Engineer opportunity with a Series A New York health tech business that builds patient engagement software for biopharma companies supporting people with chronic and rare diseases from diagnosis through therapy. The role leads the design and development of new features for the core products and improves the speed and reliability of existing applications. You’ll lead design and development of new features, improve the performance and reliability of what is already live, work with colleagues to identify new product opportunities, and help scale the company, its culture and its products. The posting centres on AWS, including DynamoDB, API Gateway, SES and Cognito, with serverless architecture, JavaScript, TypeScript, GraphQL and Node.js as further strengths. The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS in computer science or a related field and 12+ years of professional experience, with strong object-oriented programming skills and high code-quality standards. Experience designing sustainable, scalable infrastructure on AWS, a preference for simple solutions to complex problems and a track record as an independent self-starter are expected. Healthcare application experience and experience leading delivery of complex systems to production would be advantageous. This is an in-office role in New York City with occasional remote flexibility. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
