Research Scientist
Forus · New York, NY
About the role
This is a Research Engineer opportunity with a New York AI-powered network that connects doctors, pharmacies, payers and biopharma to speed new treatments to patients. The role builds and ships production LLM and machine learning systems that solve business problems across insurance coverage, affordability programmes, fulfilment and biopharma partner services, with end-to-end ownership from definition to measured impact. You’ll scope and lead AI projects such as classification, data extraction and summarisation, reference-based question answering, outcome prediction and workflow triggering, choose between open-source, proprietary and fine-tuned models, and design experiments and evaluation protocols. You’ll develop new techniques in NLP, data extraction and autonomous reasoning, automate branching workflows with a mix of ML and RPA, and build predictive and simulation models for biopharma partners. Tools include PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX. The posting does not state years of experience. It asks for strong programming and computer science fundamentals, a research background in ML or NLP shown through top-tier publications or significant open-source work, and experience deploying complex ML systems in production, with deep knowledge of transformers and multimodal models. This is an in-person role at the company’s SoHo office in New York City, suited to a researcher who wants their work in production. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
