Staff Forward Deployed Engineer [NYC or SF]

About the role

This is a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer opportunity with a New York clinical AI company that builds infrastructure which health systems, life sciences companies, payors and government agencies use to run patient-facing care. The role leads the technical delivery of customer deployments end to end, setting architecture, planning the work and owning quality, and the leadership can lean technical, people-focused or both. You’ll lead a major healthcare AI deployment from the first conversation to production, turn ambiguous customer needs into technical plans, set architecture and standards, and make tradeoff calls on what to build, reuse or push back on. You’ll work directly with customers to keep scope, timelines and quality on track, and grow the engineers around you. The work centres on LLMs and agent systems. The ideal candidate will have led significant engineering work as a tech lead, staff engineer or engineering manager, can break ambiguous problems into deliverable work, and has hands-on LLM and agent-systems experience or the ability to ramp up fast. Experience in regulated or high-reliability domains, forward-deployed or customer-facing work, and running a small team would be advantageous. This is an on-site role in New York City or San Francisco. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
