About the role

This is an AI Engineer opportunity with a Series A New York healthcare finance company building an AI-powered financial operating system for medical practices. It is the technical lead for an agentic platform that researches, classifies and resolves insurance claim denials, including generating appeals. You’ll design multi-agent workflow architecture, build specialised agents for denial classification, root cause analysis, evidence retrieval, policy reasoning and appeal generation, build and optimise RAG systems over clinical, billing and payer-policy documents, and create evaluation frameworks and feedback loops. You’ll work with billing managers to turn denial workflows into agent behaviour. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in machine learning engineering with production AI systems and model deployment at scale, and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX. LLM prompting, fine-tuning, vector search and MLOps are part of the stack. Healthcare data or medical billing knowledge would be advantageous. This is an on-site role in New York City, three days a week in the office. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
