Backend Engineer II - Healthcare

About the role

This is a Backend Engineer II (Healthcare) opportunity with a Series C New York healthcare data company whose platform gives life sciences organisations data and AI-driven insight on doctors and trials. It is a mid-level engineering role on a product team. You’ll help deliver features end to end, build and maintain APIs, backend services and microservices, tune PostgreSQL schemas and queries, work on Kafka-based event-driven systems and Elasticsearch indexes, support Kubernetes-hosted applications, and build full-stack features across React frontends and NestJS backends. The stack is TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, React, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, AWS and Spark. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience, hands-on TypeScript and Node.js, working PostgreSQL knowledge and familiarity with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes and AWS. Python or PySpark, Go and LLM API experience would be advantageous. This is a hybrid position in New York City. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.
