About the role
This is a Staff Software Engineer (Inference Backends) opportunity with a Series B New York AI company building empathic voice technology. You’ll build the systems that serve models at low latency. You’ll work with Rust, Go, C++, Python, PyTorch and Linux. The ideal candidate will have staff-level systems or inference experience. The role is on-site in New York. We're looking for someone curious, pragmatic, and eager to work across the stack with a small senior team. You'll own end-to-end delivery of major features, influence architecture, and mentor engineers.

- Ship customer-facing features on a weekly cadence.
- Partner with design and product on scoping and trade-offs.
- Drive technical quality through review, testing, and docs.
- Mentor one or two engineers on your team.
